Spotty Romance Comments on the Closing of Ashland...
Basically Ashland Hall didn’t have a specific permit in place that the Alameda county required all places holding concerts and live music to have. Subsequently the county stepped in (with the threat of major fines or the possibility of being arrested) not allowing us to throw anymore shows until said permit was acquired. At the moment representatives from Ashland Hall along with...

The Subtle Way Is Done.
The Fremont 4-or-5-piece Screamo band (who were anything but Subtle) have called it quits. According to drummer Namor Nalupta, “our contract with our label and booking agency just ended, and it’s time to move on to bigger and better things.” The band have decided not to look at this as a name change, seeing as Guitarist Marcelo Sedano is the only original member. So the...

I'm A Little Late On This One, but...
I was browsing through old Raindrop Residence Updates, and I realized that we’ve never written about quite possibly one of the best local bands out there. I am, of course, referring to Antioch’s ZEBRA MOUNTAIN. It would be difficult for me to analyze the band the way I normally do with other local bands. Suffice to say that the six-piece is definitely a “Love them or hate...

In Defense of Sky Highway (Not News)
I get asked quite frequently why Sky Highway are my favorite local band. Even the members themselves were surprised to find out. So I’ve decided to explain exactly what it is about them that I love so much. San Jose’s Sky Highway was essentially a tribute to being average, something most people can relate to. The band were fairly Pop-Punkish musically. Frontman Kylle Reece...

Arsonists Get All The Girls' Ashland Hall Show Has...
Following Alameda County’s decision to shut down Ashland Hall, The show on the 10th has been canceled. Spotty Romance had this to say: It looks like (even though I hate doing it) I have to most likely cancel the Dec 10 AGATG show at Ashland Hall. I tried finding another venue to move the show but had no luck at all. Once again we can thank the Alameda County for ruining another show....

Ashland Hall Has Been Shut Down Until Further...
I couldn’t find a picture of the venue, so here’s Daniel. Anyway, Alameda County has decided that there will be no shows at San Lorenzo’s Ashland Hall until further notice. In the meantime, the December 10th show, Arsonists Get All the Girls, must be relocated. If you live in the Hayward area and have a big house, take the hint.
